8 Reasons Why You Must Get Photos Taken Before Your Wedding Ceremony
Lately I’ve had a lot of couples ask me about first look photos and getting photos taken before the wedding ceremony.
For a lot of couples, this just isn’t an option because of tradition/old wives tales etcetera. However, it’s becoming more and more popular for many reasons! Here are 8 reasons why you might want to consider getting photos before your ceremony.
1. Your nerves will be lessened for your ceremony
Let’s face it, your “groom-to-be”/”bride- to-be” levels you out. There’s just something about them that calms you in a stressful situation. If you’re able to see them before the ceremony, you’re somehow more ready for the ceremony. This will also allow you to really take in your wedding ceremony and enjoy the excitement of it.
2. You’ll be able to enjoy your cocktail hour
Having finished your photos earlier, you’ll have time to spend with your guests at your cocktail hour. It’s your event, you should be there!
3. Your hair and makeup will be fresh
You’ll probably just have come from getting your hair and makeup done. You won’t have to worry about the wrath of time affecting your photos.
4. Your guests won’t have to wait as long
Photographers usually set aside 2-3 hours for photos. That can really add up if it’s time between your ceremony and reception. If you get photos taken before, you can pretty much go straight into your reception, completely alleviating that time for your guests to “kill”.
5. Your photographer can take advantage of the light
Natural light is always the best for photos. If you get photos done before your ceremony, your photographer won’t be fighting the light.
6. You can get beautiful intimate photos of the two of you
First off, I am definitely not saying that if you follow the traditional timeline for photos, you won’t get great photos. However, doing the photos before the ceremony definitely reduces the risk of potentially not getting those images. You are guaranteed to get photos of your partner’s reactions with first look photos. Who doesn’t want those stunning images?
7. You will get the shots you want
This includes the first look photos I mentioned in the last statement, but I am also talking about the photos in general. If you’re less rushed, you’ll get the images you really want.
8. You will still get amazing photos at your ceremony
I think there’s always that worry that your guests won’t get to experience your partner’s reaction to you walking down the aisle. I promise you, even though they’ve already seen you, they will still be looking at you like they’re the luckiest person in the world to be marrying you. Promise.
Remember, this is your wedding. There is no right or wrong. If you want to do first look photos, go for it!
